JOB OPENING: QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR

The main responsibilities of the Quality Control Inspector include: ensuring that all test pressings are evaluated, documented, and completed efficiently, regularly inspecting discs at the press to identify potential issues, and working in collaboration with the production team to maintain the quality standards of Citizen Vinyl. Necessary skills include: accuracy, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of the cutting, plating, and vinyl making processes. Working with the production team to increase efficiency and productivity while maintaining quality is of the utmost importance.

Daily tasks of the Quality Control Inspector include: listening to test pressings and production discs for potential issues, logging all test pressing assessments, measuring the physical characteristics of records to ensure they are within RIAA specifications, generating quality control reports, effective communication with the production leaders and staff, packaging and labeling test discs, communication with clients about test pressing issues, making improvements to the test pressing and QC workflows, maintaining the test pressing library, and keeping pace with the test pressing schedule. The Quality Control Inspector is an individual contributor as well as member of the production team – this is not a manager or supervisor position. He/she/they must be able to stand/sit for extended periods of time and lift up to 30 lbs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete and deliver test pressings in a timely manner
• Develop efficient systems so that test pressings can be delivered by the required due dates
• Prepare accurate labeling and tracking of all test discs and revisions
• Objective, critical listening of test pressing and production discs to identify issues
• Manage test pressing library, necessary print components, and consumables
• Assemble packing sleeving, jacketing, and labeling test discs
• Documentation of test pressing analysis, progress tracking, and inventory
• Preemptive, regular inspections with all press operators and all spindles to identify potential problems before large quantities of discs have been produced
• Develop protocols so that all pressing shifts have inspection coverage – including weekends, early
  mornings, and late evenings
• Develop efficient, easily understood workflows, standards, and procedures for quality assurance as a consensus with Pressing Supervisor, Packaging Supervisor, and Production Manager
• Provide customer support with an emphasis on friendly, accurate, and efficient communication
• Continuous and effective communication with Production Manager, Pressing Supervisor, Packaging
  Supervisor and other leaders and crew members
• Efficient and responsive communication by email is mandatory
• Stays on task regardless of workload, assists in packaging department when needed
• Use of turntables, audio equipment, headphones, speakers, computer, etc.
• Maintenance of turntables, changing styli when needed, etc.
• Effective use and understanding of measurement tools, microscope, and imaging equipment
• Must be able to follow written/verbal instructions from production leadership and work in a production environment
• Fully engages with team and other associates to troubleshoot problems and drive continuous
  improvement, efficiency, and productivity
• Works with one-on-one with clients to accommodate listening sessions at Citizen Vinyl
• Works as part of the packaging team when required by supervisor / manager and when all primary
  duties are completed
• Maintain a fair, compassionate, and respectful work environment
• Must be a team player, able to collaborate with all leaders and staff
• Works safely to ensure the best quality products in the most efficient manner
• Performs other duties, provides support and coverage on all operations as requested by supervisor
  
  REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  
• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Experience in audio production and vinyl manufacturing is preferred
  
  SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  
• Strong attention to detail (inspections, documentation, etc..)
• Excellent and concise verbal and written communication skills
• Must be an open minded team player who is flexible in daily duties
• In-depth knowledge of the record production processes
• Ability to lift 30 lbs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include hearing pitch, hearing transients, distinguishing non-musical artifacts and extended listening times at various volume levels.
