ABOUT THE MUSICAL COMEDY
Combining the camp of HAIRSPRAY with the audience participation of ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW and HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, this musical comedy is full of twists and turns and funny characters. It tells a story with the humor and inspiration of THE HELP and FRIED GREEN TOMATOES, adding the themes of good versus evil, self-discovery, injustice, women’s empowerment, and the power of love over judgment.
The Story: Southern charm and religious values are currency, and townsfolk die of natural causes in the sleepy town of Whitecross. Until now. Who killed town football hero, Big Jake? When legal authorities fail to protect the women denizens of Whitecross, the Sisterfriends—members of the Women’s Preservation Club—take matters into their own hands to see that justice is served.
But what secrets are they withholding? And what are they planting in their welcome garden on the outskirts of town: camellias or corpses? Does psychologist Brad Pope have the gumption to confront his past when he comes back home to settle a debt with his Daddy? And how do the Sisterfriends and Voodoo Sally find the gumption to stand up against the David-and-Goliath injustice in this small town?
The surprising answers are revealed in a dark descent into the campy, musical romp. The mystery will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you fall out of it laughing. Or maybe even both!
